Hello all,
Rank beginner here… I suspect that my installation failed on a basic level. I used the installation package for ubuntu 16.04 and am left with… complete confusion. When I couldn’t figure out how to interface with what the package installed, I read the manual install instructions to get an idea what happened during the package install. It indicates that ruby, node, and passenger are all supposed to be installed, but none of those appear to be present on my machine. I started with an empty hard drive and a new install of Ubuntu 16.04. If I ask, “service —status-all” I see apache2, mysql, and memcached running. “dpkg -l | grep openproject” returns 7.3.2-1511427461.451e1366.xenial. But when I ask dpkg about ruby, node or passenger, it lists nothing. Shouldn’t they be there? If so, should I just go thru the installer steps again? Should I un-install something first? I also see the installer created a user named openproject, but… I don’t know the password. What the heck have I done? ;). Any suggestions appreciated…

I answered my own question. Ruby was installed… it’s just not “installed” in the same sense that the other packages are installed. It’s buried deep in the directories and sub directories. My inability to access the app was not due to incorrect installation, but to other problems. All good now.
