Why was CentOS6 support removed in v7
Added by Prophecy Networks over 7 years ago
Hi guys,
I see that CentOS6 support was removed from the packager.io config prior to v7 (https://github.com/opf/openproject/commit/15d202514578033137d5c1ee350ec3b029167c90)
Was there a technical reason for this? If I try to manually install v7 on CentOS6, will I have compatibility issues?
Thanks!
David

Hi David,
there was no technical reason on the side of OpenProject to stop the support for CentOS 6, however each distribution requires paid maintenance on pkgr.io. Thus, when we introduced support for Ubuntu 16.04., we removed support for CentOS 6. Please reach out to us if you’re interested in sponsoring the reintroduction of CentOS 6.
Best,
Oliver
Are you on a paid pkgr.io subscription? pkgr.io seems to indicate that for opensource projects, there’s no limit to the amount of distributions on the free tier.
