Upgrade to 16.04 broke Openprojects CE - Importing Old Data after Fresh Install
Added by Jay Lepore over 7 years ago
Hello. We found Openprojects would not work properly and finally not at all when we upgraded from 14.04 to 16.04
We have since reinstalled from scratch the latest download of Openprojects and have it up and running again.
We had a year or more of data from our last install and still have the sql export from the old version. Was hoping / wondering if there was some ‘best method’ for importing the old data or if we are dead in the water with CE.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi Jay,
could you elaborate on the issues you were seeing on the upgrade (e.g., do you still have logs that might hint at a failure)? Since our package pins certain dependent versions (e.g., the MySQL database), an upgrade may require you to reinstall the package from the 16.04 package source to get that going.
Since we do not really depend on the distribution that runs OpenProject, you will be able to restore your installation with a full backup of the database and the attachment files, followed by installing the package using the 16.04. source.
To re-use your existing configuration for the wizard, please also copy
/etc/openproject/installer.dat
which contains all your input to the wizard answers.Best,
Oliver
