Where are email config settings stored?

I’m trying to set up my email configuration, but I can’t seem to find where the settings are stored in the config files. Within the web app, I’ve entered my relevant email account info, but I’m getting an error. When I open configuration.yml, none of my settings are in there. Is configuration.yml only used during initial configuration?
