OpenProject CLI Configure Utility Doesn't Display Properly

I’ve installed the deb package on Ubuntu 16.04.1. No issues. However when I run the command openproject configure the displayed text comes out garbled. See attached picture. Any idea how I can make this appear correctly? I’m using bash as my shell on a remote workstation (ssh into the openproject server’s box).
