Issues with installation (mysql problem)

Added by Marcel K over 8 years ago

Hello community,

I tried to install openproject on my vServer. OS is Debian 8 with installed Plesk 12. I installed openproject with the packager.io. The folllowing shows my issue on the configuration of openproject, I’m new in the Linux world and have not enough experience to handle this.
I installed openproject quite good on my local virtual machine but this machine runs without plesk.

So my question. what is the question and how can I handle it? I think a mysql server is running and because of this, openproject cannot install his own mysql server?

best wishes
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

Plesk probably provides (or at least holds) a MySQL or MariaDB package and thus stops you from installing mysql-server.

If you do have a database maintained by it, you can choose to Connect to an existing database in the OpenProject configuration wizard.

Best,
Oliver

Hi,

I tried to configure it with the following tutorial: https://community.openproject.com/topics/5360

I followed the tutorial until Openproject Configure Point 1…
then I tried to select the point >> reuse / connect with existing DB…

After select that I don’t need SSL, it quits… :-(

Like I said, the vServer is empty. Only Debian 8 and Plesk 12 are installed.

What can I do?

Best,
Marcel
