I can’t find a description anywhere of how to upgrade a manually installed openproject, we currently have 4.0.0 happily installed and running. When I did that it wasn’t obvious that there was a packaged option so I didn’t use that. Is it easy to convert from manually installed to packages?

I’d really like some help on this.
Has no one done this?
I guess sorting out the language issues on this forum is more important (why did everything switch to german?)
Hi Gareth,
I recommend to do a package based install as described here. During the post install configuration it is important that you choose the option connect to existing database. Hopefully everything else is self-explanatory. After the installation you have to copy your attachment files and svn (if used) to the new location. See info below:
Package installation info
I highly recommend you do backups first.
If you need more detailed instructions please post your current stack (apache/nginx passenger/unicorn or whatever you use) here so we can figure out a suitable solution together.
Cheers
Karsten
Hi Karsten,
when changing installation to a packaged one, I’m unable to install plugins. Even documentation and this forum says, its better to do manual installation. I would also appreciate a guide, how to upgrade the system when manual installation was used.
Cheers, Radovan
Hi Radovan,
you can have a look at this post:

We are also currently working on a packager version which includes the plugins.
Best,
Robin
