The installation nightmare of this app makes me question my existence

This is an incredible app but FREAKING A it is SO hard to install. That is the only thing i despise about OP.

Any hope to make it a 1 click install and done?

Hi Andrew,

that is an excellent point.
It is indeed way too difficult to install OpenProject at the moment.

We are working on multiple alternatives to facilitate the installation process:

  1. There will be a hosted service for OpenProject which will be in beta at the end of the year (see this thread)
  2. There will also be an installation wizard for Debian with a comprehensive installation process (see this thread for more information).

Alternatively, you could also vote for OpenProject on Bitnami: Bitnami Contest.
The application which receives the most votes in a month is packaged by bitnami.
Would be great if you could vote for OpenProject as well! ;)

Robin,

I checked the 2nd thread but it appears there is no link to the installation wizard yet… Is it on track for release this month? Where can I go to access the beta of that wizard?

Will 4.0 have a easier installation process feature? Are you on track to release 4.0 this week? Will there be a new feature list on your site to explain what’s new?

Very eager to sink my teeth into OP. I think it’s just what my agency is looking for.

Hi Andrew,

there is no exact date yet when the installation wizard will be released but it may be at the end of the month.
Have a look at the news for any updated information.

Due to some further stabilization the release of OpenProject 4.0 was postponed to October 2nd.
There will be marketing release notes detailing the new features which will be published along with the release.

In the meantime you may have a look at the shorter release notes.

This has an wizard that helps you with the setup.

The packages makes the upgrade to 4.0 quite easy once they are released.
