Ubuntu: OpenProject often disfunctional after update (needs manual start of configure)

Added by ravenous bugblatterbeast 7 months ago

Running "apt upgrade" often leads to "503 Service Unavailable" until I run "openproject configure".

I've installed OpenProject on my Ubuntu system as described here https://www.openproject.org/docs/installation-and-operations/installation/packaged/#ubuntu-2204 As instructed, I am using the repository deb https://dl.packager.io/srv/deb/opf/openproject/stable/14/ubuntu

Frequently after upgrading my packages with "apt upgrade", I have to run "openproject configure" manually. Each time I do, it doesn't even require any interaction. I think that a running service shouldn't require extra attention and force admins to check whether it's still functional after an upgrade. All other services keep running after an upgrade or trigger a dialog if necessary. It seems to me, that the deb packages of OpenProject fail to provide a post-install-script that would start a configuration process when required.

I've already created a feature request here: https://community.openproject.org/topics/18757 but it doesn't seem to get noticed. Now I wonder, if I made a mistake in my configuration, which is causing that problem.

Is this only happening to me, or do other Ubuntu/Debian users have to deal with the same issue?

How do you ensure, that OpenProject stays up and running?
