Help Installing

Added by William Cornett, PMP almost 11 years ago

I will pay someone to teach me how to install this OpenProject. I have tried on a fresh clean install of a kVM vPS machine using Centos 6.5 64 and recently Ubuntu 12.04 64 and i get all kinds of problems saying command is not valid and user has no role and many more. I can’t seem to find any tutorial videos of someone walking through it step by step. The written instruction make some assumptions that you know what is meant by " " or it is implied put data there, but do I???

Any takers?

Thanks,
William Cornett, PMP

RE: Help Installing - Added by Brendan Dunn almost 11 years ago

Hi William

I have managed to get it going and I have documented the steps

I have attached two files
1. a step by step guide to installing on ubuntu 14.04.
2. A simple step by step guide to setting up a prod version.

It will take 2 to 3 hours end to end. Theses are my notes I made as I ran through the process as best I could with the notes on the internet.
The ubuntu works ok as I have run this several times with no problems. You will only get problems if you miss a step (easy t do if you rush), or forget to fix the dummy passwords in the instructions or a library version has changed (the apt-get will fail but these are easy to spot)

This is a prod install so you will not have any dummy data, a clean slate. If you are going virtual, make a copy of the VM before you start adding projects. A simple way to reset if you CRUD the app during your learning.
