Background jobs in version 12
Added by Se Schi over 2 years ago
Hello,
we currently updated to version 12 but the notifications are not working... there is nothing in the logfile regarding a background job or whatever.
Looks like there is no background job running at all.
How should the background job/command look like? Is there a way to run it manually?
The official documentation looks outdated in this case...

The E-Mail notification feature was removed in newer releases. For us a showstopper... moving to another tool in the near future.
Hi Se Schi,
your statement is simply not true. OpenProject supports email notifications. We just spend a lot of time to avoid situations when users were spammed because they received tons of irrelevant emails. The email notifications are now much smarter than before.
It is not possible to build a software with a UX if we try to address every users preferences. We need to focus on specific use cases. So no hard feelings if it does not work for you.

Hello Niels,
the currenct (v12) mail notification system is not comparable with the one from older versions. You can't send out mails if something in your work package has been commented or changed like the current status or other things like that. In our company we need to inform users about changes in work packages. Thats a "simple" feature which was there in older releases. Unfortunately it was removed in a major update because of the notification system on the upper right. This was the information I got when I opened a bug report because of that.

Sebastian
