Openproject no longer working after automatic update

Hi,

I have an OpenProject installation on an Ubuntu 20.04 server. The server runs an automatic apt update every night ... and after one such update OpenProject simply refused to start. The error seems to be a failed database migration. I've been trying for quite a while now to do this manually, but eventually I got stuck on a missing 'secret_key_base' value.

Is it normal, you think, to blow a perfectly fine installation into pieces, just by doing the useful, namely an automated update of all apt packages on a server? Anyway, before I start ranting too much (because I'm pretty upset about this), what can I do to get this system going again?

Hello,

Not sure if it helps, but see this:

You need to check what does not work precisely, using pg_lsclusters and other stuff.

  1. make sure postgresql runs, and which version, at which port;
  2. do the openproject config to get info to which port it listens, and to which db it connects and so on.
