Simple installation with Bluehost?

Added by Bradley Agnew almost 11 years ago

Hi OpenProject community,

I’ve been looking to install a web-based project management solution under a subdomain for a long time and OpenProject really stands out to me, I want to get it installed and start using it to manage my projects!

Unfortunately, I have found all the instructions super confusing, I am not a technical person as I spend most of my time managing projects and my area of expertise is business development, so I am completely at a loss. I have been with Bluehost a while and have come to understand that their support is truly terrible, they do not know much out of their one-click installs.

Could any of you perhaps provide me with a simple way to install OpenProject? All I see on the instructions page is a huge mass of text and code which means nothing to me, surely there is a simple way to install and use OpenProject? With a project as powerful and impressive as this, I must say it is disappointing that it is so difficult to actually use it - but I suppose there must be a reason for that, excuse my lack of technical experience! :)

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Kind regards
Bradley Agnew

I don’t have a simple way for you to install OpenProject, but I do have some missing information that might have been the initial problem that you were facing while trying to install yours using the default installation instructions. I have made a post with my additional directions here. https://www.openproject.org/topics/1714

I completely understand your frustration with the complexity of installing OpenProject, especially if you're not familiar with technical jargon. Luckily, there are simpler ways to get it up and running. One option is to use a hosting provider that offers one-click installations for OpenProject. While Bluehost might not provide this service, you can consider switching to a provider like DigitalOcean, which offers straightforward installation processes. Alternatively, you can opt for a managed hosting solution specifically tailored for OpenProject. These dg customer service handle all the technical aspects of installation and maintenance, allowing you to focus solely on managing your projects. Companies like OpenProject itself offer such services, ensuring a hassle-free experience.
