Restoring backup from v10 into v11

Added by Donald Christensen about 4 years ago

Hi: I recently had a server crash and needed to restore an Openproject backup on a new machine. I was able to install a working default Openproject service. I then went and imported my backup files (per OPs documentation). Now the website is working though I am getting the following error:

"[Error 500] An error occurred on the page you were trying to access. If you continue to experience problems please contact your OpenProject administrator for assistance."

I'm pretty sure the issue may be that I restored a v10 backup into a new v11 system. I can still log into the site with my personal credentials, just I cannot see any of the work package data etc.

Stats:

  • OS: Ubuntu 18
  • Database: PostgreSQL 10.1.6
  • OpenProject 11.2.0 installed via apt-get

Questions:

  1. Is there a way I can fix the database / migrate to work with 11?
  2. Do I instead need to install a fresh copy of v10, then restore the backup, then upgrade to 11?
  3. If needed, how do I find / install the old v10?

TIA, Donald

How do I receive support from Openproject? This support request was never even reviewed. I am sitting with a broken system that I've spent hours trying to fix without any help from Openproject.  I cannot even reinstall the server at this point to a fresh start. What must I do to receive some help? Thank you.

Hello Donald,

Sorry for the delayed response.
Since we have a large community and a relatively small team, we are unfortunately unable to monitor the forum continuously.
There are quite a few active community users who also reply back to questions/messages but it's still possible that a question may go unanswered for a while.

To optimally and sustainably support you, we offer the Enterprise on-premises edition which includes support as well as many useful premium features.
The following comparison of the Community and Enterprise on-premises edition provides an overview of the benefits you get with the Enterprise version. You also help finance the future OpenProject development.
If you have any questions about the Enterprise on-premises version, feel free to contact us directly. As an Enterprise user, we offer direct support channels to assist you.

You may also find our technical documentation helpful.
You can find older versions of OpenProject on packager.io.

Kind regards,
Robin
