Install without root ssh? (no sudo)

Hello, I'm trying to install on SiteGround which offers SSH access, but not root access (no sudo). Is there not a way to just upload the files to the server?

Hello Jonathan,

I don't think that will ever work. You'll need at least sudo to 

  • modify your apache (or nginx) configuration
  • create some cron jobs 
  • probably even more that I am not aware of

Caveat: I am just an Openproject user, so my answer must not be taken for granted

Thanks Johan,

In regards to those two points, I can actually create cron jobs using Siteground's backend admin panel. Some of the apache configurations can be adjusted via .htaccess, but not all.

It's too bad it's not an easier platform to use.
