Using Gmail for outgoing email
Added by David Patterson about 5 years ago
I am trying to use a gmail account for outbound email and have so far been unable to do so.
Sending a test email works as expected and the message shows up in the account's Sent folder.
Making a change to a work package in a project also results in an email being sent to the appropriate user and a corresponding message in the gmail account's Sent folder.
Sending an invite to a user does not work. OpenProject reports that it successfully sent the message, but it is never delivered to the recipient and does not show up in the account's Sent folder.
Settings:
Delivery method: smtp
SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP HELLO domain: (a valid domain for which Gmail is being used)
SMTP authentication: plain
SMTP username: (a valid user in that domain)
SMTP password: (the user's gmail password)
Automatically use STARTTLS: checked
Use SSL: not checked
Help appreciated.
Thanks.

Ever have any success in getting this to work for Gmail or G-Suite? Seems as though we should use these settings, but I'm not having any success:

Actually, no.
The truth is I gave up on OpenProject. I found it difficult to manage and, as you may have noticed, I didn't get any support for this question.
Good luck!
