NGINX Reverse Proxy Bugs

Added by Ukamaka Azikiwe about 5 years ago

I've gotten Nginx to successfully reverse proxy the Unicorn server.

The issues I am running into seem to affect only when I'm using a Chrome based browser, such as Chrome or Brave. In certain pages, such as the /settings URL, when I click on the Save button I do not get a notification of success or failure until I load another page. This behavior doesn't happen if I'm using Edge or Firefox, only on Chrome browsers.

I created a fresh OpenProject.org cloud trial, since it runs Nginx as well, and I did not experience this issue. Seems to be local to my environment or my particular Nginx and or OPJ configuration. My OPJ is as vanilla as possible, except for accepting connections from a different subnet (I'm running a tiered DMZ setup) and on a different port (6060 instead of the default).

I've tried comparing headers between the openproject.org cloud instance, and my own, but nothing really stands out and I've tried disabling or enabling certain things without having an affect.

I've attached my Nginx config files here for diagnosis, but essentially they're generated from Nginxconfig.io (this link will give you my specific config)

Would it be possible to get some insight from the developers into this?

I believe the community would benefit from more clarity into using Nginx as a reverse proxy in place of Apache.

Hi,

is there a specific reason why you asking the community for support using an alias?

Best

I'm not sure why this matters but I frequently experience difficult treatment online due to my name, and as such, I tend not to use it unless it's needed. Philosophically, I'm an advocate for privacy rights as well.

I've updated my profile in case this now allows me to receive feedback from the open source community.

Thank you Mr. Lindenthal.
