pgdata folder remains empty
Added by Jonas Woehl almost 6 years ago
Hello community,
at first i have to admit that i might be the most unexperienced user here and thus my questions might sound strange. Nevertheless i hope to find help here.
I started using OpenProject with version 8.2.0 and decided to upgrade to 8.3.1 today.
Since i'm quite unexperienced with using dockers my thoughts were to mount the "pgdata", "logs" and "static" to a visible network folder of my diskstation and that after the process of installing the most recent OpenProject docker container they will be "re-initialized". This didn't work as expected and the container refused to start again (constantly automatically restarting).
Since at this point there were not much important data inside my OpenProject instance i decided to backup the "old" pgdata folder and do a clean reinstall. This worked fine and as mentioned in the current installation guide on the website i mounted these two paths:
- var/openproject/assets to docker/openproject/static
- var/openproject/pgdata to docker/openproject/pgdata
While the static folder seems to be working (attached files to workpackages occurred also visibly there) the pgdata folder remains empty. Which doesn't seem to make much sense to me since i thought it would meet backup-purposes.
Can you tell me what i did wrong and how i can fix it?
Also: can it be, that the folder structure changed from 8.2.0 to 8.3.1.? Researching in preparation i found a docker update guide which said, that on my Synology DS it normally would be enough do shut down the current container, export the settings inside the Synology GUI (they contain the mounted paths, ports etc.), install the most current container, import the settings again and start the new container.
So far everything else seems to work pretty smoothly.
Thank you in advance for your time and help and congratulations to this awesome platform. I'm heavily looking forward to use it in my daily business asap.
All the best,
Jonas
