Once everything is stored as Markdown it would be a big waste not to have an actual markdown editor too.
Otherwise, why even store everything as Markdown to begin with?
There will certainly be people who prefer writing Markdown over using the WYSIWYG editor.
Also this is particularly relevant if one wants to copy Markdown content from external sources into work package descriptions or wikis.
