Slow general performance of OpenProject installation after update to 8.0.1 version.

Added by Александр Сердюк over 6 years ago

Hello, everyone,

After updating to a new version 8.0.1 we faced with performance degrade under working with all packages. The most problem is with Firefox - opening or saving description in task is taking approximately 3-5 second. In Google Chrome is better, but not to much - 1-3 second. Could anyone help with a prompt, where i need to dig?

Current environment:

OpenProject 8.0.1 (Mysql2)

mysql  Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.7.23

Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS

Privjet Aleks,

I would first check what kind of issue it is. Otherwise it is just guessing. So take your Browser's developer tools and have a look around.

  • Check if is a problem for a specific request. For example the XHR request that loads the work packages. There you can check the timing if the time to first byte (TTFB) is high (in other words, if the server needs very long) or if it is simply your network connection that is slow.
  • Your indication that Chrome performs better let me believe that it might be related to the browser's rendering.
    • How up to date is your Desktop?
    • Maybe check from a different and more performant computer.
    • Update your Browsers...

Good luck!
