Cost Reports

Added by evaluations consultant almost 7 years ago

I have defined a role with permissions for Cost Reports turned off. Please see screenshot attached.

When I login as this user, I am still able to click on the Cost Reports menu on the sidebar and also able to view reports using the filters and column selection provided.

This should not be possible.

This is found in version 7.4.5

How does one restrict the Cost Reports only for certain privileged users?

Hello,

the permissions you showed only control whether or not users can save cost reports as filters.

The cost report also allows users to see their logged time and logged unit cost. Therefore, they are still able to see “Cost reports” (even though they cannot save any reports).

To completely hide the “Cost reports” entry, make sure to deactive the following permissions:

  • In the Cost control section:
    • View own hourly rate
    • View all hourly rates
    • View booked costs
    • View own booked costs
  • In the Time tracking section:
    • View spent time
    • View own spent time

If you deactive those settings a user won’t be able to see or access cost reports. The cost report is used to view (and then possibly edit) spent time and costs. Therefore, it is shown unless those permissions are deactivated.

Best,
Robin

Hi Robin,

Thanks very much for the explanation.

I had the Cost Control section already deactivated.

Following your advice, I deactivated ‘View spent time’ and ‘View own spent time’ in the Time Tracking section.

That did the trick.

Thank you very much.
