Where to add roles to a user?

How do I assign roles to users?
I can only make a user administrator by checking the checkbox on the user General properties tab, but I don’t want to make a user admin.
I guess I need this step (add roles to users) to make users able to create project. With the default install a normal (non-admin) user is not able to create a project. Do I need to add a role for a user?
Thanks and regards,
Tamas

Hi Tamas,
user roles are defined per project. That means that you have to assign a user to a project to give her a certain role in that project (see the Project tab in the user’s preferences or the Members tab in the project settings).
For a user to be able to create projects herself, you have to install OpenProject Global Roles.
I hope this information helps?
Kind regards,
Hagen
Hi Hagen,
Thanks for the reply, it helped of course.
So I have 2 choices:
- Create a project as admin, and assign user(s) to it
- Install Global Roles plugin, so a user can create a project
I would go for the 2nd option, but I have some issues installing Global Roles (see my other topic: https://www.openproject.org/topics/960?board_id=6).
But thanks again putting me in the right direction.
Hi Tamas,
yes, you’re right about the two options you have. I thinks so too, that the second option is the more appropriate one for your requirement.
By the way, you’re welcome! :-)
Kind regards,
Hagen
