Moving tasks from new to in progress is causing error popup
Added by Saimon Sam over 6 years ago
I am using the latest community edition of Open Project. When I create a child (Bug) under a parent (Feature) automatically as task with same name is added under the feature story. Now my questions are
1. Why the task item is created under feature story instead of the task itself? Why moving this task throws error? (Check the attached screenshot)
2. However, if the task item is not a child item of the feature then the task story doesn’t create any task (Id #9 in the attached screenshot). Why?
Thanks,

Hello Saimon,
thank you for mentioning this.
This in fact a bug: On the task board only tasks should be shown (no other types, such as bugs). It appears that currently all child work packages of a story type (e.g. Feature, User Story) are shown in the task board. This causes the error message since for those types the selected status is not defined in the workflow.
(The bug is tracked in #27980).
Until the bug is fixed, it’s best to not create child work packages other than tasks for stories assigned to the sprint.
Ideally, only create tasks from the task board view (by clicking on the “+” sign next to the story). Tasks created this way are automatically added as children to the stories.
Thanks,
Robin
Thanks Robin for the reply. Though I’ve watched the Defect. Hope I’ll get this bug fixed soon.
Btw, had there been a bug board like task board where bugs can be moved across it’s different statuses would have been great.
Thanks,
