How to troubleshoot email notification? + delete not-activated user
Added by Tamas Csabina over 10 years ago
Hi there,
This is a fresh setup of OP 3.0 on Debian 7.4.0 x64.
Something is not properly configured with my email setup, as the activation emails are not arriving to users upon user-creation.
I am trying to use a local smtp server, without auth (relay is enabled on the internal network).
How can I find out where does it go wrong? Is there a logfile that would identify what is wrong with the email config?
Also, based on the above issue, there is a user that I cannot delete, nor activate. During user creation the activation email was sent (actually it never arrived, due to the problem with the email setup), and now the system is waiting for the activation.
I don’t see this user under Users, when I login as admin. And I cannot create another user with the same username/email address, as the system sees this non-activated user.
How can I get rid of this non-activated user, or how can I activate (or regenerate the activation email, if I fix 1st the email sending)?
Thanks and regards,
tamas

Please go to Administration -> Users. There is filter section for “Status”. There you can select users with other status such as “registered”.
Here you can also delete the user. Please note that a user delection is done asynchronous. So depending of the number of projects and work packages the deletion might take a while.

Hi Niels,
Oh, thanks. I overlooked that drop-down list…
Now I have all my users listed. Great!
Any hints, tips about troubleshooting email delivery?
Thanks,
Tamas
