Time logging for non-OP users
Added by S D over 6 years ago
Hello, I’m wondering if there is an easier way than what we currently do. We have a “catch-all” account for various staff or contractors who do tasks related to a particular project, but don’t actually ever log into OP. Right now, it means the PM logs out, logs in as this and enters in details. It’s an awkward couple extra steps.
Ideally, our PM would log time, pick a username and add that time on their behalf, but I’m not seeing how to do that.
Or is there a better workflow that’s intended with OP?
Cheers

Hello S D,
OpenProject builds on self-responsibility when it comes to tracking time. It is possible to edit time entries made by other users. However, you can not track time for other users. (Feel free to open a feature request for this.)
Mostly, tracking the effort for suppliers / contractors is accomplished by tracking unit costs (e.g. consulting days, supplies).
First, you can specify the cost types you want to use and then you can log the unit costs .
This way you can track the cost associated with suppliers / contractors without having to manage them through an OpenProject account.
Best regards,
Robin
