Newbie question: Add existing task to Backlog
Added by Väino Vaher over 10 years ago
Hello!
I have just started experimenting with OpenProject. After creating some work packages I installed the Backlogs plugin. I can create new tasks through the Backlogs GUI (though I can not assign a type to them during creation). Those tasks end up nicely in each designated backlog, and I can also drag-and-drop tasks from one backlog ‘container’ to another. I can not, however, seem to find any way of migrating tasks created through the ‘work packages’ sidebar into any backlog.
(I can assign the work packages a ‘version’, but that does not seem to have a 1:1 correspondance to backlogs/sprints. It is a bit confusing for me.)
Is there a way of doing what I want to do (i.e. add existing tasks to a backlog)?
I have not been able to find any real user guide or manual for OpenProject. Am I looking in the wrong places?

running on

Hello Väino,
if you want to assign a work package to a certain backlog then you need to change the work package’s version (technically, a backlog is a version). So, you’re right trying to add work packages to a backlog by changing the work package version.
The problem is that not every work package type may be part of a backlog. Look at Administration > Plugins into the OpenProject Backlogs configuration: You’ll find a setting Story-Typ. As you’ll see, not all work package types are activated as stories for backlogs, thus, they won’t show up in a backlog.
Does this information help you?
Kind regards,
Hagen
