Email-Settings not saved

Added by Bernd Müller about 5 years ago

Hi!

Once again the email notification is not working here.
What makes me wonder is that:

  • I have re-configured openproject using the email settings I want to use (domain factory is the host I want to use)
  • In AdminSystem Settings> Email notification: I still see the old gmail settings that have been used before reconfiguring the smtp settings. These seetings are not the one that I want to use.

my conf looks like this:

default:
  rails_cache_store: <%= ENV.fetch('RAILS_CACHE_STORE') { :memcache }.to_sym %>
  session_store: <%= ENV.fetch('SESSION_STORE') { :cache_store }.to_sym %>
  email_delivery_method: <%= ENV.fetch('EMAIL_DELIVERY_METHOD') { :sendmail } %>
  smtp_address: <%= ENV['SMTP_HOST'] %>
  smtp_port: <%= ENV.fetch('SMTP_PORT') { 25 }.to_i %>
  smtp_domain: <%= ENV.fetch('SMTP_DOMAIN') { ENV['HOSTNAME'] } %>
  smtp_authentication: <%= ENV.fetch('SMTP_AUTHENTICATION') { :login }.to_sym %>
  smtp_user_name: <%= ENV['SMTP_USERNAME'] %>
  smtp_password: <%= ENV['SMTP_PASSWORD'] %>
  smtp_enable_starttls_auto: <%= ENV.fetch('SMTP_ENABLE_STARTTLS_AUTO') { "false" } %>
  attachments_storage_path: <%= ENV.fetch('ATTACHMENTS_STORAGE_PATH') { "/var/db/_APP_NAME_/files" } %>
<% git_configured = ENV['GIT_REPOSITORIES'].present? %>
<% svn_configured = ENV['SVN_REPOSITORIES'].present? %>
<% if git_configured || svn_configured %>
  scm:
  <% if git_configured %>
    git:
      manages: <%= ENV['GIT_REPOSITORIES'] %>
      mode: 0770
      group: <%= ENV['SERVER_GROUP'] %>
  <% end %>
  <% if svn_configured %>
    subversion:
      # SVN uses Apache repository wrapper due to permission errors in multi-user operation
      manages: <%= ENV['SVN_REPOMAN_URL'] %>
      # Do noot verify SSL certificates when SERVER_PROTOCOL is 'https'.
      # As we currently only support local repoman installations with packager,
      # this option is set to true by default.
      insecure: true
      access_token: <%= ENV['SVN_REPOMAN_TOKEN'] %>
  <% end %>
<% end %>

Now I have decided to enter the info manually in AdminSystem Settings> Email notification. When I try to send a test email. I get a “An error occured while sending mail (534-5.7.14. &lt:https://accounts.google.com/signin/continue?….”

So that leaves me with 2 questions
1- Where do I find the settings that I have entered while using “openproject - reconfigure”
2- What kind of error do I see when I use gmail (note that I do not want to use gmail, as I got not clue how to solve that 534-7.14 error.

Any help and thoughts are appreciated.

Cheers

Aha….in /etc/openproject/conf.d/smtp I see some settings. But they do not refect what I enter in the UI. Very strange….

Somehow I got it working using sendmail instead of smtp.
Still I got not clue why/what/ is happening.

I have similar issues. Email is working if configured through UI, but running

  openproject run check

from command line uses different settings altogether and doesn’t send email successfully when changed to same settings in UI.
