Changing status of children via a parent work package

Added by Rob Guinness over 7 years ago

Hi all,

I’m new to OpenProject, but I’m liking what I see so far. I’ve reported a few bugs already in the hopes of making it even better, but sometimes I’m not sure if I’m seeing a bug or not because I’m so new to the project.

Without further ado, I’m not sure if this is a bug or not, but should it be that when you change the status of a work package its children work packages also change to the same status? For example, I have an “Epic” that has a child “Task”. If I change the epic from “In specification” to “On hold”, I would expect all its children also go to “On hold”. This requires that the children actually have an “On hold” status, which is not necessarily always the case.

Anyways, I’m not sure the expected behavior, and I haven’t had time to dive into the source code yet (BTW, is the source for the Cloud Edition available?). Maybe this is not actually a bug, but it would be a nice improvement to be able to affect the status of children WPs via their parent.
