adding new users to a project as project admin?
Added by norman king over 7 years ago
Hi all.
I’m trying to add new users to my project. The role for my user is project admin but i can only add users that have already signed up for openproject. How could i add users that are not yet signed up without being project admin?
The error i get when trying it says that there is no such user.
Thanks.

Hi.
Is there any way to allow project admins to invite external users?
By external users, i mean users mot registered on the project instance. If not, would such a feature be considered?
Thanks.
Hi Norman,
in the project members view, only (super) admins can invite new users to OpenProject. It wouldn’t be difficult however to control this through an extra member permission that could be assigned to, e.g., the project admin.
Best,
Oliver
Hi.
Thanks for the response, this sounds like what i needed.
How would i go about adding such a permission? Is there documentation on doing something like this somewhere?
Thanks.
Hi,
As I understand, you can’t do what you want. We can’t add someone as a member of a project if he has no user account on the Openproject website.
You can add the permission “create a user” to any role so that someone who isn’t an administrator may be able to create the user and then add it to the project.
And you can give this “fake” user a special role with 0 permission.
