Version in Sub-Task

Added by Thomas Selders almost 8 years ago

Hello,

I’m currently checking some use-cases with OpenProject to integrate it in our software process/solution.
One thing I don’t understand is the following…

Why isnt’t it possible to use a Version (Backlog-Plugin) in Sub-Tasks?
Even if the “Main”-Task has the same Version it’s not possible to select a Version.

Is there a reason behind this behaviour I don’t get yet?

Best regards

Hey Thomas,

the version of sub-tasks should always be the same as for their parents if the parent has a backlog version assigned.
The reason is that tasks are shown in the task board (as tasks associated with e.g. user stories).

Therefore, it wouldn’t make any sense if the tasks could be assigned to another (backlog) version since that task board would then be incorrect.

I agree that it is however confusing when working in the work package list. This is one of the areas where different modules (Backlog / work packages) have conflicting use cases.

Best,
Robin
