Timelines Problems
Added by James Jones over 10 years ago
I’m having some problems with timelines. Hoping someone on this forum can shed some light. Any help would me much appreciated.
Firstly, whenever I add a column to any timeline such as status or start dates, an extra column is added with the heading ‘translation missing: timelines.filter.column.’. I’m not sure what exactly is causing this.
Secondly I’m having trouble getting the timelines of sub-projects showing up in the parent project timeline. In the parent project timeline options I’ve set ‘show subprojects of’ to the parent project in the ‘Filter Projects’ section. I can’t find any documentation about this stuff.
I’ve attached a screenshot that shows both these problems in action.

Well just to update, we upgraded open project to 3.0 stable whereas we were running the beta beforehand. This fixed the problem of the extra column with ‘translation missing: timeline.filter.column’.
Still not sure how timelines interact with projects and subprojects though. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Okay another update. I managed to get sub projects timelines showing up in the parent project by setting up ‘status reportings’. So a win there. I’m a bit saddened by the complete lack of response here. If there’s no documentation and no support you leave a lot of beginners out of the loop.
Hello James
I use version 3.1.0pre1 and I have the extra column with ‘translation missing: timeline.filter.column’ problem. Can you tell me what did to solve it?
Thanks.
Hello James,
I want to ask about the ‘status reporting’. Even if I related the sub-projects, it only showed the titles without the work packages. Only when you click does it show the sub-projects’ timelines. Is this how it is shown to you?
Thank you!

Sorry for such a late reply. I was clearing out emails and saw these responses.

I actually find that error comes up again when you edit the timeline report. It seems you have to create a new timeline report to avoid this error.
@Khaoula E.
I found that I had to go into ‘Dependencies’ on the main left side menu and set up new dependencies between sub-project and the parent project. It only works one way but right now I can’t remember whether you set it up within the parent project, or the sub-project. Hope that helps a bit.
