Copy/Create Project Errors
Added by Matt Smith about 8 years ago
I’m currently testing out OpenProject, and it’s been brought to my attention that my users cannot copy a project, even though permissions are set to allow it. In trying to fix the issue, I’ve verified their roles have the “Create Subprojects” and “Copy Projects” roles and I’ve created a Global Role with "Create Project, but still no luck. A user that has system administration privileges is able to make copies of projects though. Any one have any idea what I’m missing?

Hello Matt,
which version of OpenProject do you use?
(You can verify the version by going to the administration and selecting “Information” from the side menu on the left: Next to “Core version” the OpenProject version is displayed).
I checked the behavior in OpenProject 6.0.3 (currently deployed on the hosted OpenProject version) and for me it worked correctly: When a user (who is not an admin) is assigned the default role “Project admin” in a project, the user can create a new subproject by selecting “Project settings” from the side menu and selecting the “+ New subproject” button.
When the user is additionally assigned a global role to create projects, he can create new projects from the “Projects” > “+ New project” dropdown menu. (Note there is a bug in OpenProject 6.0.3 that “+ New project” is displayed even when the user has not the right to create a new project. The user receives an error message when he tries to create a project without the permission. (This has been fixed in 6.0.4)).
