Email Sent when Comment Made

I have added a few members to a project. When I make a comment to a task I would like certain members (or all) to receive an email message about that comment.

The comments made here I see as an ongoing dialog between members working on a particular task. It seems natural this capability lives somewhere in the software but I cannot find it.

In short:
Member A
Member B
Member C

Member A makes a comment as part of a Work Package Task. I want Member B and Member C to get an email notification of that the comment so they can respond to it.

Is this possible ?

What sayeth the group ?

Hi Jay,

simply add the members you want to have updated via email as members to the work package and the software will do just what you want.

The watchers selection is placed in the “Watchers” tab of a work package.

I see you can add a member to a ‘Project’

Did you mean ‘assign’ the member to a work project ?

Hi Jay,

lets differentiate between the two steps necessary to add a member:

1) Add a users as members to a project
You can do that via the project menu (the one to the right). Follow the menu entry titled “Members” and you can add, edit or remove members.
2) Add members as watchers to a work package
After a user has become a member of the project they can be added as watchers to a work package. Go to a work package and click on the “Watchers” tab in the top right corner of the work package.


On that tab, you can see the already assigned watchers, can remove them or add more users as watchers. So in that sense yes, you can assign them to a work package but please do not mix that up with the “assignee” which is the person working to complete the work package.
