OP 5.0.17 - UI - Removing Start and End dates.
Added by Mike Lewis over 8 years ago
I have some work packages put on hold that used to be on a schedule, now that schedule is undetermined, and the old schedule has long since passed.
It seems to be possible to remove these dates from a work package by deleting the text in each of the fields and leaving them with no date. However, once you delete the text on End Date, and click the “Done” on the calendar pop-up, the dates are not removed.
The calendar for “End Date” is right-aligned with the text field above it, and therefore covers over the “Accept or Cancel” control for the field (check mark and “x”).
“Done” on either the Start Date or End Date pop-up calendar seems to have the same effect as clicking the the “X” cancel button for the form field and stops the editing of the Start and End Dates.
I found that I could delete the dates by deleting the text with my keyboard, and then clicking away without clicking on the calendar to get the calendar to hide. I can then click on the checkmark (“accept”) for the form field.
Workable… But it should work better than this.
A couple of ideas:
- My assumption is that “Done” should mean you are done with that particular calendar, not with editing the entire Start and End Date field. All “Done” should do is close the pop-up calendar.
- Add a button in the calendar pop-up for removing the date, (e.g. “No Date”, “Remove Date”, “Clear”, “None”… etc.) This perhaps would solve all of the issues above, and you could clear dates without putting a single finger on the keyboard.
- Another idea is to move the End Date calendar to align with the left edge of the End Date text field. This would keep the Accept/Cancel control visible and usable. My screen/browser window is wide enough that this would be a solution, but on smaller screens the width of the calendar may be as wide or even wider than the End Date text field, in which case the calendar will cover it over regardless of being left or right-edge aligned.
Thanks,
