However, the performance when switching between work packages with 2 custom fields with 200 values each (while not great) wasn’t that bad when I had a quick look at it (I did not notice a substantial difference compared to switching to work package without those custom fields):

Do you display a lot of work packages per page? Are there a lot of users in your project?

thank you for the answer and the very helpful gif.

The gif made clear, that we had a missunderstanding.

It is not about the loading time to expand the list. It is about the loading time of selecting another workpackage, right in the view you are showing in the gif. (assumed that the workpackages contain lists)

We suppose, that the whole list of a custom field is loading, right when a workpackage has been selected, not just after selecting/ expanding the list.

Deselect the custom fileds in your test project. After that you will “hopefully” notice less loading time to switch between the workpackages within that view.

However, let me answer your questions. I tried different numbers of shown workpackages. Always nearly the same factor of loading time between 2 and 3. (2x 200 values-list) At the moment a test user and me are the onliest users in this project.
