Wiki formatting of capital letters followed by an expression in parentheses
Added by Frank Z over 9 years ago
Hello everyone,
an expression within parentheses right after at least two capital letters is not shown.
As you can see,
AB(foo)
is shown as AB (foo).
Is this on purpose?
There is nothing related to this in
https://www.openproject.org/help/user-guides/wiki/ or
http://projects.mtjm.eu/help/wiki_syntax_detailed
Best,
Frank

Hello Frank,
thanks for your question.
This is indeed intended: In textile you can use acronyms (in all caps) and add an explanation in parentheses. When you then hover over the acronym, the explanation is shown in the tool tip.
You can find more information here: http://txstyle.org/doc/32/acronyms
Thanks for pointing out that this feature is missing from the documentation.
We’ll add an explanation to our user guide.
Best,
Robin
Hello Robin,
thanks for your reply and very useful link!
Does that mean, whenever you want the parentheses to show up, you need to use something like
or @ == to encapsulate the expression?
Is the following also related to textile?
Within a new paragraph (either empty line or beginning of the document) an image reference (to a local file) following a space
does not show up, while it does without the empty line (no new paragraph)
or without the beginning space
At least that is what I see on my OP Installation, not sure whether it is reproduced here!
However, the images show up if the reference is non-local, i.e. to another domain.
Best,
Frank
Hello Frank,
as long as you use an all-caps acronym, you would indeed either need to encapsulate the expression (@ for inline or < pre> for blocks) or add a space between the abbreviation and the opening parentheses.
Leading spaces can also be an issue. If you want to indent the image, you may want to use “>” in front of the image instead:

Robin
