[Solved] Having trouble with work package and project status changing.
Added by Evan Mantri over 9 years ago
When updating a work package, the status field (‘new,’ ‘in progress’, etc) is greyed out and locked on whatever the default status was.
I tried changing the status on projects in status reporting module, but no options appear in the drop down. Besides, I also want to change the status on work package “tasks” and I do not see that option in status reportings.
Apologies if it’s obvious but I’ve spent too much time so far trying to figure it out.
Please help.

I set up the openproject so I have all admin priv
Hello Evan,
thanks for your question.
In order to change the status of a work package, you need to be a member project with a role that has a valid workflow for the type you want to change (even if you are an admin).
(You can also take a look at the FAQs. )
You can add project members in “Project settings” > “Members” tab.
The workflow can only be defined globally in “Modules” > “Administration” > “Workflow”.
If you want to add additional status, you can do this in “Modules” > “Administration” > “Work package statuses”.
Afterwards, you can assign the created status to a type and role by going to “Modules” > “Administration” > “Workflow”, selecting the type and role for which you want to add the status, uncheck “Only display statuses that are used by this type”, click “Edit” and set the check box accordingly.
Best regards,
Robin
thank you thank you so very much for quick reply :)
all good now. Amazing product, although to be honest your documentation could be fleshed out more in places.
Great to hear it’s working now. :) Thanks for your feedback.
We’ll try to improve the documentation on this.
