Questions about customizing and import
Added by Ramona Koch almost 10 years ago
Dear all,
first of all: many thanks to all contributors for this brilliant tool - it’s really the most comfortable PM- and collab-tool available at the moment (I tried many other the last weeks)!!!
OS info: I work with OpenProject 4.0.6 (Mysql2) via the Bitnami stack on Windows7. I’m generally used to work with mySQL, but don’t know Ruby on Rails.
Nothing’s perfect, so I’ve got some questions remaining:*
1. Is anybody there who also uses a bitnami stack for windows? It seems that install- or developer information differ quite from the parts which are in my bitnami-system (concerning the structure of directories…)
2. Is it possible to import data directly to the database or are there conflicts with the Ruby-“programs”?
(For one work package I created unit costs “km” with a price per km to manage my travel costs. In the comment I write the target of my travel. Now I would like to import more data at a batch from an existing excel sheet, which I could do directly into the database. I had a look onto its structure). What I now don’t know is the dependence between database and some Ruby-Parts.
3. Are there alternative editors or how can I use real HTML-tags in comments (e.g. I’d like to have a simple line via hr-tag at the end of every comment)
4. How can I manage taxes at costs, e.g. 7% or 19%?
5. Can I search words in comments of work packages?? The normal search integrates only all other parts except comment.
6. How can I add datetimes in my work-packages, so that they are shown in the cost-report? I tried it with customized field, but my report didn’t show them.
I know, these were many questions, but they are quite relevant to make Openproject usable for my self-management as freelancer with quite different projects.
Thnaks for reading (and maybe answering)!
