Expanded settings for email notifications
Added by Joel Small almost 10 years ago
Hi,
We’ve run into a few issues with triggering the criteria behind who gets email notifications and why. We’re finding that the default options available need to be worked around, and was wondering if they can be extended, added to, or just outright changed.
A new/modified setting
Current functionality
‘Work packages I am watching or Involved in’ emails get sent to you if you are the creator, the assignee, or are watching that work package.
Preferred functionality
Change this, or add a different option, that sends to you if you are the responsible, the assignee, or are watching that work package.
Reasoning
Within our workflow, the creator may have created a ‘template’ or flagged the initial work package, but the responsible user is the one who manages the change.
Choosing what types of updates trigger emails:
Not all updates are worthy of emails in our workflow. It would be good to specify what triggers emails to be sent. IE, status changes, % complete, but not time logged and not entering of notes.

Hello Joel,
thanks for your suggestions.
OpenProject 4.1 will contain the option to make changes to attributes from the split screen view.
When changing the attributes you can specify for those changes if you want to send email notifications.
This may solve at least part of the problem you mention.
For details you can have a look at the current dev branch (note however that this is still work in progress).
Best,
Robin
