[resolved][bug] Can't copy a project - delayed_job not working?

Added by andrea olivotto about 8 years ago

Bitnami OpenProject 4.0.4-1, virtual appliance on vmware player.

I just created a template project, with some members, work packages, …
I copy the project, but nothing happens, even after some minutes.
Thinking about a email problem, I edited the configuration.yml, setting test mode to production environment, but nothing changed.

No errors on production.log.

Any hint?

Andrea

Update: maybe the delayed_jobs are not functioning.

Executed crontab -e, and crontab file for bitnami user doesn’t exist.
Create a new one, but empty.

What should I add to this file?

I checked the manual installation page (https://www.openproject.org/download/manual-installation/), but folders are completely different for bitnami virtual appliance.

Any hint?

Hello Andrea,

do you receive emails when you do a work package update?
If not, this may indeed be an error with the delayed_job in the Bitnami installation.

The delayed_job seems to be working properly in the standard OpenProject installation.

Best,
Robin

Thanks Robin for your reply.

In fact, I haven’t received emails, but I thought it was the misconfiguration of configuration.yml.
Emails are not mandatory for my application.

I’ll write to Bitnami support.

I guess that the “delayed_job” you are referring to is implemented using crontab.
The “crontab -e” command (executed as “bitnami” user) permits to edit the crontab configuration file.
The “crontab -l” lists all jobs. In bitnami appliance, there isn’t any job.

This line:

/1 * * * cd /home/openproject/openproject; /home/openproject/.rvm/gems/ruby-2.1.4/wrappers/rake jobs:workoff

(suggested by the manual installation page )doesn’t work in bitanmi appliance, as the installation folder is not “/home/openproject/openproject”.
Even more, I can’t find the RVM (Ruby Version Manager) command “rvm”.

Could you please give me some hints?

Thanks!

Robin,

Here is the topic about the problem on the bitnami forum, just to embed all information on this issue:
https://community.bitnami.com/t/openproject-delayed-job-doesnt-work/29326/2

It seems that the openproject_delayed_job is not running.

Hello Andrea,

sorry for the late reply.
Great to hear copying projects is working properly again.

Bitnami says that the issue is solved with stack 4.0.5-1.
Thanks Robin for your support, even… was not your fault :-)
