Demo: How to reset Subdomain and Email to try out Demo?
Added by Eric A almost 10 years ago
Hello,
I entered a Subdomain and Email address to try the demo, but it did not create an instance and send notification to my email. Then I realized that I hadn’t yet registered my domain, which I assumed to be the problem. So I registered it. Now when I try to create an instance demo, I get these errors:
- Sorry, your account could not be created.
- Subdomain has already been taken
- Email has already been taken
Is there a way to reset these, or otherwise bypass these errors?
Also, this forum is rendering in my browser in German. Is there a way to set it to English?
Thank you.

Hello Eric,
the demo instances are created asynchronously. It may take a while until the instance has been created (when a lot of other users create an instance at the same time). You should receive an email when the instance has been created.
However, if you want to create a demo instance and your subdomain is already taken you may have to choose a different one, I’m afraid.
The same goes for email addresses. However, you can use the same email address multiple times by adding a ‘+’ before the ’
' sign. Everything in between those characters is ignored by your email client (you still get the email notification to your normal email address) but OpenProject recognizes this as a different email. (e.g. abc+something
example.com instead of abc@example.com).For the language: You can change your language in your account settings, by clicking on your name in the upper right corner, selecting “My account” (or “Mein Konto” in German) and then changing the language to English.
Take a look at the user guide for more information.
Best,
Robin
So helpful. Have received the async instance email, and switched to English. Thank you very much for your assistance!
