I’m used to doing effort-driven task sequencing and milestones in MS Project. However, I cannot replicate the same in Open Project. I’m having trouble organizing work packages in sequence/precedence as effort-driven rather than date-driven. E.g. I’ve setup work package predecessors (parent). They become stacked to the far left of the timeline and I cannot edit dates or estimated times. However, If I remove parents, I can set dates and estimates and group multiple work packages under a single parent.

Hello Paul,
the start and end date of a parent work package is determined by the start and end dates of the children (earliest start date and latest end date).
The estimated time of the parent work package is determined by the summed up estimated time of the child work packages.
You would need to set the start date, end date and estimated time of the child work packages accordingly to also change the dates and estimated time of the parent.

I define a project start date, then each task has a duration to complete with predecessors and successors linked to define the effort-driven timeline. Cannot OpenProject support this? Or, does OpenProject require all work packages to be date driven?
I have the very same issue as the original submitter. Does OpenProject not support effort-driven task scheduling?
