Login ID and LDAP Authentication

Added by Taras Zakharko over 10 years ago

Dear all,

the LDAP authentication was surprisingly easy to configure, even for someone like me, who has very little understanding of the directory services.

However, I would like to have one quality of life (for the users) improvement. Currently, it seems that the user login cannot contain spaces. This means that I have to authenticate the users agains their short user ID. It is not convenient for them, because most of them are used to login via the full name. Hence, I would like either to be able to have the full names as logins, or alternatively, to be able to authenticate versus multiple different fields (such as short name or full name).

Second, it would be nice if the user name and email would be taken from the directory service. Right now, we still have to enter their data manually at user creation, which is not very comfortable.

I can open a feature request on this, but I would like to hear your feedback first.

Thanks,

t.
