Customize email notifications

Is there a way to customize the email notifications which are sent out when there is a new activity in the project. The default is set to just a notification, which requires you to currently log into open project and see the change. It would be nice to have details or the actual change itself, otherwise the notification is redundant as one has to go into openproject anyways.
