Work Package Summary page does not categorize/count work package from its subproject

Added by lyron ong over 10 years ago

may i know if there is a way to show the count of work packages on the main project summary page?

eg.
Alpha —main project(for categorize purpose, does not have any workpackage)
Beta —sub-project of alpha
Charlie —sub-project of Beta (work package inside)
Delta —sub-project of Beta (work package inside)

if i go to Alpha summary page,
if does not show any counts as there is no work package under Alpha.

is there anyway to display the counts by type or by custom filed on the main project summary page?

Thanks
Lyron

Hello Lyron,

yes it is possible to show the aggregate work package count of the target project and its subprojects in the parent projects project summary.
To activate this option go to the system settings, select “Settings” > “Work package tracking” tab and activate the option “Display subprojects work packages on main projects by default”.

When you then go back to the summary project of a parent project you will see that the values for the summary are updated and include work packages from subprojects as well.

Best,
Robin

Hi Robin,

Thanks for the response,

I have this option checked.
And yes, it does show something as follow on the summary page.

Subproject

subproject A
subproject B
subproject C

and their counts by status.

However, this is not exactly what im expecting.

im expecting counts group by Types and Assignees which are still showing “-” on the summary page of main project.

Please advise

Thanks,
Lyron

Hi Lyron,

I understand what you mean but I think this is currently not possible in OpenProject.
You could create a wiki page with a list with all subprojects and a link to the respective project overview (or work package page / filter) and then add this wiki page to the project overview by adding a teaser and using the include macro.

{{ include(Wiki_name)}} (remove space before “include” and adjust the name of the wiki page accordingly).

However, to my knowledge it is not possible to include the sum of work package types directly.

Feel free however, to create a feature request in the Wish List.

Best,
Robin
