Project creation with templates

Added by Stefan Göris over 10 years ago

Hi all,

we are just dealing with the situation to creat standard-project-plans.

Is it possible to create templates with different project steps?

Means if we have some big project we need more and specific project steps then for little projects.
The we can create for example three until five templates and can decide when we create the project which template we will chosse.

Best wishes and thanks in advance for your support

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

there are no predefined project templates in OpenProject yet.
When creating a new project you can customize your project by deciding which modules, types and custom fields should be activated. (You can also change this later in the project settings)

Once you have created a project, you can however use the “Copy” function to use the existing project as a template for a new project.
(You can copy e.g. members, wiki pages, custom queries etc.)
You can copy a project either from the project settings or from the system settings (under “Projects”).

Note however that there is a bug in the latest version of OpenProject (3.0.13) that prevents projects from being copied successfully (#15706).
There is a fix for this but it has only been merged to the release/3.0 branch (which you would need to check out in order to use this feature).

Best,
Robin
