Difference between Work Packages Types

Added by Johannes Follert 10 days ago

Hey guys, i'm new to openproject and have some question to the Work Packages Types.

In german we have a Sammelvorgang (maybe Phase?) and Aufgabe (Task). What ist the difference between them?

My first guess was: A Sammelvorgang is closing if any task below this Sammelvorgang is finished. But that doesnt work.

Is there any explanation for the different Work Packages Types?

Thank you guys for the answers!

Johannes

Hi Johannes,

Sammelvorgang is most likely a custom work package type created by the admins of your OpenProject instance. It is possible to create as many work package types as needed. With Milestones as an expection_,_ they all work the same way. For example, they can have sub-work packages (children), are related to other work packages etc.

The visible fields in these work package types (Sammelvorgang probably looks different than Aufgabe) can be configured via the administration settings (work package form configuration), as well as the available status options. The latter are determined by your role in the project.

This guide includes an overview of this topic:

Best
