Reccuring Tasks

Hello, dear openproject community!

I have question regarding openproject community edition.

I could not find if there is a way (doesn't matter standard, workaround or coding) to create recurring tasks?

Hello Sandro,

it is not yet possible to set up a work package (e.g. task) as recurring. That is a highly anticipated feature request on the roadmap yet:

Hello Sandro,


The workaround I use for this is to have my main template work package created specifying the recurrence in the name for example "Monthly - Apply OpenProject server updates) and also assign a custom status of "Recurring". Set your start and finish dates on the work package so that when the work package comes up as due you can copy/clone the work package, change the status to "new" or whatever fits your workflow, change your dates accordingly and then update the date on the "Recurring work package" for it's next occurrence.
