Hello!
I try to follow the user guide on calendars (https://www.openproject.org/docs/user-guide/calendar/).
So far, I cannot understand the difference between the action of creating a new calendar (https://www.openproject.org/docs/user-guide/calendar/#create-a-new-calendar) and the other action of creating a new calendar view (see image below).
The first entry in the yellow box "Create New Calendar" was created using the green "+"-button. The second entry "Create new View" was created with "View // Save as" (or German "Ansicht // Speichern unter").
Both seem to bring the exact same result. Is there any difference and if not, why was this design decision taken?
Thank you in advance for your support!

Hi Marcel,
great question!
Both things you circled yellow in your screenshot are calendar views. Basically, every calendar is a view of a set of work packages definded by the filters set.
So you can do two things here:
using an existing view, adjusting it as you need and save it as a new view (via "Speichern unter")
creating a new view from scratch
Both will ultimately lead to a new calendar view displayed in the left side menu.
Sometimes, you just want to "recycle" an already existing calendar view out of convenience. Example: You create calendar views which display the work packages a colleague is assigned to. If you have 5 colleagues you would need 5 calendar views. So you could simply change the "assigned to" filter in an existing view and use the "Speichern unter" option to create a new view. That's quite handy if you work with many filters.
If you use the [ + Kalender ] - button, you start without any filters pre-selected. That makes most sense if you new calendar view has nothing in common with already existing ones.
Best,
Alexander
