great question! Currently, a milestone can be moved by every user with the right permissions. It is possible to select a manual scheduling mode for a milestone (and all other work package types) though. When enabled, this mode prevents an automatic moving of the milestone when preceding work packages take longer than initially planned. At the same time, however, this allows preceding work packages to be planned longer than the milestone itself.

Hi Nico,

Please find here more information on manual and automatic scheduling:

I encourage you to submit a feature request with your user story and acceptance criteria so we can add it to the wish list -> https://www.openproject.org/docs/development/submit-feature-idea/#submit-a-feature-idea
Best,
Alexander
Thanks for your help. It is very helpful.
It's just a figment of the imagination, but this request makes me think more of a "named date" than a dated milestone.
That is, the ability to give a "name to a date," a name that can be edited, but not the date.
And what goes with it is the idea of being able to give this date properties, in addition to this name.
